The Southern Youths Peace Initiative (SYPI) has described the re-election of Willie Obiano Anambra State governor as victory for democracy in the country.
Rising from a meeting in Enugu at the weekend, the group urged Obiano to see his victory in the November 18 governorship polls in Anambra State as a call to do more work.

The communiqué stated further, “We the Southern Youths called it 21:21 the first ever in the history of Nigerian politics where victory was recorded in all wards and local government area of the state.
“We wish to associate this unprecedented victory to the good work you have done in your first tenure which have no rival, your youth friendliness which was demonstrated in appointing Hon. Ononiba Chinedu as your SA Political and many other youth appointees in your government.
“They jointly proved their youthfulness in your re-election as the governor of Anambra State. This indeed is victory to democracy and all lovers of peace and truth in the state.
“We wish to commend Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah the man behind “Afa Igbo Efuna,” a revolutionary movement that galvanised thousands of votes to his Excellency which contributed to the over whelming victory in the polls across the state.
“We thank all Ndi Anambra for standing with the truth irrespective of the blackmail, threats and intimidation they experience within this electioneering period.
“We thank the civil servants, the artisans, the policy makers and all the well-meaning Anambrarians for standing by their words and re-electing Willie Obiano for the second term in office.”
The group expressed confidence that Obiano’s re-election would offer him the opportunity to do greater work in Anambra State, believing that reward for good work is more work.
